A 6 quart crock pot will make a nice pot of soup, which you can start in the morning with just a few minutes of time, and if you throw together a batch of no-knead bread or drop biscuits, dinner is ready with very little work. I also have a Nesco Roaster. It is big enough to hold a large turkey, or a nice sized roast and potatoes. I really like it for holidays, because I still have the use of the oven for bread if I need it. I use some foods that are commonly used for food storage, such as dried veggies. Dried onions are a great time saver, as are dried carrots, celery, red and green pepper, peas, and other veggies. They are an economical item also if you use them to hurry the preparation of healthy meals, instead of preparing quick fix. No knead yeast bread is a fast way to get bread onto the table. It mixes up in about 5 minutes, you can let it sit for about 15-20 minutes, stir it down, and then dump it into a couple of pans. Let raise just a bit in the pans. Bake for 35 minutes and it is ready for dinner in about an hour.
