neither step or adopted, but 2008/09/07 19:43

Hi, I am momma to two wonderful angels here and one in heaven. Plus I have taken guardianship of my neice and nephew during their parents separation. I would love to have six children, and if God blesses me with any more or no more I will be thankful. My duties as auntie are plentiful as these kids are 3 and 5. My own are 2 and 9. I get the question, "are they all yours" all the time. And I have taken to just saying yes, I love them all. I take them on my errands and out to eat on a regular basis with my husband. I usually shop weekly so I don't have heaping carts of food, just people! Their parents have full visitation rights which make it very difficult at times. Neither of them wants to discipline and be the "bad guy" and have the kids say well I want to go live with _____. So I have all the teaching on my shoulders.
I am so glad I found this site and will be reading many of the articles and posts to get much needed support and advice. Thanks for letting me share!

Good luck to you with raising your neice and nephew. We had foster kids whom we later adopted, but for years many of them had contact with neglectful parents with many problems. If and when they would actually visit a kid, they would fill him with extravagant, inappropriate treats, and make promises that were never kept. It is very sad to deal with that, and yet the parents would not relinquish their rights, so the kids could be adopted. We had one of our sons since he was eight, but his mother would not free him for adoption. She probably did not see him more than 6 times in 10 years. We adopted him when he became an adult, as we were the only family he had. I guess I'm blabbing on. Welcome.
