Were you one of many? 2008/02/18 12:27
How many who are currently parents of a large family grew up with a lot of siblings? I'm one of seven, but my husband is one of two.

It's mostly because of his background, though, that we have grown to such proportions. He was in foster care from ages 11-14, and wanted to be able to provide some other kids the kind of love and support his foster family gave to him. We adopted a number of our foster kids. My husband's foster parents are wonderful grandparents to our kids, and closer to us than his biological parents.

I grew up in a family with six kids. Kevin grew up with just a sister. Large family parenting has been a bit of a shock to him - you have to be way more consistent, and to let a lot of unimportant stuff go.

I am the second of seven, 5 brothers and 1 sister, 12 years younger than me. I always wanted sisters. I got my wish for female companionship... my husband has 5 sisters (and 1 brother), and we have 10 girls and 1 boy, and one (don't know which kind - don't like to find out - I work too hard for that surprise -- tho I've only been surprised once!) in the oven!
