Medical Care

Medical care can be high for a larger family, but not as much as people think. Kids who are in larger families often have tougher immune systems due to a wider exposure to minor germs - I don't mean unclean homes, I mean between siblings! Moms of larger families also tend to have more experience in judging when a doctor is really necessary, and when it can be handled at home.

We spend probably $100 or more per month over what we have to on groceries. This is because we buy more fresh fruits and veggies than many people, and we purchase whole grains and low sugar items. We make a lot that others buy, for the same reasons. We do this because it is more intelligent to do that long term than to have our kids under constant medical care due to diabetes (now becoming prevalent among teens due to poor diet), or due to weakened systems because we are not giving our bodies the ammo they need to fight the good fight.

I have a son with leukemia, and he is amazingly healthy. Partly because I KNEW something was wrong, and he was diagnosed early. I had learned by then to be persistent when necessary. If this had happened with my first or second child, the prognosis would have been radically different because I would not have had the confidence in my judgment to insist. We keep him on a very healthy diet so he can best withstand the chemo and fight the illness.

One of the nice things about insurance is that no matter how many kids you have, it is usually the same amount for one as for 20 if you have a group health insurance plan.

Do you know you can save money on Health Care?

This article isn't going to cover the normal way to save on health care. I will cover what many people do not think of to save money.

1. Drink 8 or more glasses of water a day. Dehydration is what starts many diseases. When you have a headache or cold instead of running to the doctor or medicine chest --- drink a glass of water every hour or two for 2-3 days and see how much better you feel and start adding your savings up. Dehydration starts many diseases because your body is to dry to flush out germs.

2. Eating fresh fruits and vegetables will help you save on many doctor visits.  Fruits and vegetables have water and fiber in them. What is the 1st thing you grab for constipation?  Next time drink lots of water and eat a couple of carrots, apples  or maybe a handful of raisins  or prunes. Natural relief and saving of health insurance.

3. Clean your house with non-toxic products. Many forms of asthma and allergies are relieved with cleaning out the toxins in your house. If you cannot afford natural products from companies your can try vinegar and water, borax and baking soda. I have used both types of products, and my health has improved immensely.

4. Have your heating ducts cleaned every couple of years. When you close up your house for the winter/summer (air conditioning) all the dust, mold, mildew, and animal dander (if you have animals in the house) gets recycled over and over again. I never heard of cleaning air ducts until a couple of years ago. We were hardly sick that winter.

5. Exercise will help keep you healthy, help you lose weight and give you more energy.

6. Let your body heal itself. Running to the doctor or the medicine chest
is not always the healthiest thing to do.

7. Pray and ask God to help you eat and exercise correctly and get the toxins out of your home.  Then you will be the correct weight, have more energy and be the way God wants you to be. You will be healthy.

8. The more of us that take care of our health --- the cheaper your medical bills will be, hence the cheaper your health care will be.
