The Art of Belching |
|
Life in a large family can be fun, hectic, and often, unexpected. We encourage certain routines to keep things orderly, and we encourage the development of unique talents, so that each person still retains their individuality. Personal growth and self improvement are important aspects of life to us. The parents are no exception. We also choose the talents that we feel are worth developing. My husband has chosen belching. In the previews for the movie “Over the Hedge”, Hammie (the squirrel) says he can belch his ABCs. That's nothing! My husband can belch actual words! He started out with simply belching the word “Burp”. He advanced from there to variations such as “Boop”, and “Brat”, and “Bop”. Lest this sound too simplistic, you must understand that clear enunciation is important to him, so he worked hard to make sure his words were clear and understandable. He now faces an even greater challenge, as he attempts to learn to belch words which do not begin with the letter “B”. Since he is determined in his pursuit of meaningful self-improvement, I am sure this hurdle will soon be overcome. Self-improvement and progression are important concepts in marriage and family. I take comfort in the fact that my husband demonstrates his ability to learn and grow. With such determination, anything is possible! Written by Laura Wheeler - Reprints by permission only. |
